Ashland is located just out side the city limits of San Leandro. The jurisdiction for police, fire and other services are covered by Alameda County. There is no city transfer tax upon sale since these homes are not in the city limits.

Transportation is plentiful in Ashland Area. There is public bus line (AC transit) along East 14 th Street, the Bay Area Rapid Transit BART at Bayfair train station, 580 Freeway meets 238 connector to 880 in the southern corner of Ashland. Weekends there is a Farmer's Market at the Bayfair Shopping Center and a 16-screen theater.
Edendale Park, a spacious public park adjacent to the Edendale Middle School sports fields. The Reach Ashland Youth Center offering multiple recreation options. Across the street from Edendale Park lies Jack Holland Sr. Park where kids climb on the jungle gym and enjoy the skate park.
